RFID is an advanced system that identifies objects and transmits information wirelessly via radio frequency chips and readers. Unlike traditional barcodes, RFID does not require a direct line of sight between the reader and the object. This means that products are identified and tracked without physical contact.
The technology consists of two main components: RFID tags (or transponders) that are attached to objects, and RFID readers that read and process the information from these tags.
