Passkeys are built to replace passwords entirely.
They let you sign in using the same method you already use to unlock your device — fingerprint, Face ID, or a secure device PIN. No more typing. No more guessing. No more phishing.
A passkey is a secure digital credential based on FIDO2 authentication standards. Instead of storing a password on a server, your device creates a cryptographic key pair:
When you log in, your device proves who you are using Face ID, fingerprint, or PIN — and signs you in without revealing any secret that could be stolen.
How It Works in Practice
You press “Sign in with Passkey.”
Your device asks for fingerprint / face / PIN.
You’re in. No typing. No recovery questions. No SMS codes.
You can even use your phone to sign in on another device via Bluetooth.
| Problem with Passwords | Solution with Passkeys |
|---|---|
| Can be guessed, stolen, or leaked | Cannot be phished or copied |
| Require manual typing | Instant biometric approval |
| Users forget or reset constantly | Tied securely to your device |
| Companies spend money on password recovery | Lower support and security costs |
Apple, Google, Microsoft — they already support passkeys. Soon, typing passwords will feel as outdated as entering a dial-up modem code.
